LONDON - CBS Outdoor has completed its first Tube station makeover at Bond Street as part of the outdoor media owner's £72m upgrade of its London Underground estate.
The West London station is the first Tube stop to boast a media wall, a cross-track panel that frames ads along the entire length of the platform. The new technology eliminates the use of wet glue, and instead uses dry-posting inside a ceramic, stainless steel panel.
Other new features at Bond Street include slimline boxes, digital escalator panels and an increase in the number of illuminated units.
Euston will become the next Tube station to receive the treatment, with the installation of a media wall and other improvements.
Tim Bleakley, managing director at CBS Outdoor, said: "This brand new cross-track site offers advertisers the benefits of both a three-minute dwell time as well as a fantastic creative canvas.
"The gallery effect is perfect for showcasing brands in the heart of the West End, just three minutes from Europe's busiest shopping destination."
CBS is fitting new digital screens at 24 tube stations across the Underground network under the terms of its £1.5bn Transport for London contract, which it won last year following a competitive pitch.
The contract, which CBS has held since 1994 when it was known as Viacom Outdoor before a rebrand last year, is the world's largest in terms of annual revenues.
