LONDON - All of Redbus Outdoor's UK university ad sites have been filled during the six-week fresher period, the firm has announced.
Redbus said this proved that the student market was attracting considerable interest from advertisers, as well as vindicating its strategy to market students as a significant consumer group in their own right.
According to Redbus, students spent £20bn last year. The Royal Bank Of Scotland Student Living Index 2007 found that, over the year, students spent £1bn on food and £979m on leisure and entertainment – though no mention is made of the amount spent on beer.
Redbus said that advertisers’ interest in students beyond the first few weeks of term remains healthy, with some companies seeking to capitalise on the run-up to Christmas and the start of the spring term in January.
Redbus claims to be the biggest contractor of six-sheet university sites in the country.
