Outdoor outfit wins site permissions
LONDON - BlowUP Media, the giant format outdoor contractor, has won planning permission on appeal for a site in Newcastle city centre, as well as winning consent for a temporary site in Putney, London.
The Newcastle site, in Pilgrim Street, was originally refused permission in January but the company appealed to the council.
There will be no advertising on the site, which measures 118sqm, but postings are expected to go live in January next year with an estimated 1.7million impacts a month.
BlowUP is also celebrating after gaining approval of temporary consent for an ad site in Putney high street measuring 80sqm.
The ruling planning inspector, Simon Hand, said the banner would be “preferable to the scaffolding with just the minimum debris screening, which can quickly look very tatty”.
It was deemed the banner, which will be in place for 10-months, will have a “positive impact on the area”.
